The sector

What a school
asks of you.

01

The neighbours are children

Students and staff are on site, and nobody gets to be casual about where the work area ends.

02

The calendar sets the window

Term dates and holidays decide when the heaviest work can happen.

03

Older buildings

A lot of school building stock is old enough to contain asbestos, often in more than one form.

04

Proof before re-occupation

A classroom does not reopen on the contractor saying it is fine.

05

A community is watching

Parents, neighbours and the school community all need to know what is happening and when.

Who we work for

We deliver asbestos removal for education facilities, to exactly the same process and documentation as every other job we do.

Before you call

The questions
we actually get.

How do you keep students and staff away from the works?

An asbestos work area is established with sheeting to control the movement of dust and air, and obstructions are only removed once that containment is up. The work area is kept as small as possible.

Will the school community be told?

Before we arrive, safety documentation is prepared, the regulator is notified of the work, and we provide a notification letter for you to pass on to neighbours.

How do we know a room is safe to use again?

Every job closes with a clearance inspection by a competent person independent of the removal work, who checks the work area for any visible dust or debris of any kind. A room goes back into use on that inspection, not on our word.

Can you deal with asbestos in the grounds as well as the buildings?

Yes. Asbestos-contaminated soil and fill is remediated under our Class A and B licences as part of our soil remediation work.
