What it covers

The whole structure,
down and cleared.

Demolition works is the full-scale end of what we do: a structure that has to come down completely and on programme so the next build can start. Roof structures, steel framing and tilt panels, removed in the right order and cleared off site.

The same crews and the same licences that handle our technical work run every demolition job, so a straightforward demolition gets the same planning, the same containment and the same documentation as a complex one. Nothing gets treated as the easy job.

Material is separated on site and diverted to recycling wherever it can be. On the Grand Plaza cinema demolition the majority of the structure was diverted from landfill.

Consultation, not just with the client but with the stakeholders on the ground, eliminates surprise and creates a solution that is not just good in theory.

How a job runs

Five stages,
in order.

The order matters more than the machinery. Every demolition runs through the same five stages, whether it is a house or a cinema.

01

Survey and hazardous materials

Hazardous materials are identified and removed before the structure is touched, and services are disconnected and made safe.

Survey and hazardous materials
02

Demolition plan

Methodology, sequence, exclusion zones and plant selection are documented and agreed before mobilisation, with the stakeholders on the ground as well as the client.

03

Soft strip

Internal fit-out, services and non-structural elements are removed and separated, which is where most recyclable material comes out.

04

Structural demolition

Roof, frame and panels are brought down in sequence, mechanically where there is room and by hand where there is not.

Clear, separate and hand over

Material is separated and diverted, the site is cleared, and it is handed over with the documentation to prove what was done.

The questions
we actually get.

Written for the person who has to justify the appointment internally, not for a search engine.

What does your demolition licence cover?

We hold unrestricted demolition licences in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and the ACT, and an over-15-metre licence in New South Wales. Licences are held per jurisdiction, not nationally.

Do you do house demolition as well as commercial?

Yes. Our residential teams work predominantly across Brisbane, Wide Bay and South East Queensland, and our commercial teams service clients nationally. Both run under the same licences, the same safety system and the same documentation.

What happens to the waste?

It is separated on site into concrete, steel, brick and timber and diverted to recycling wherever it can be, rather than going to landfill as mixed waste. On the Grand Plaza cinema demolition the majority of the structure was diverted and recycled.

Can you demolish next to a building that is still trading?

Yes. The Grand Plaza cinema demolition sat immediately beside a trading shopping centre, with live service lines to major tenancies inside it. The whole programme ran as night works, with the remaining tilt panels propped and left free-standing for the incoming structure.

Do you remove the asbestos before you demolish?

Yes, and in-house. Asbestos, SMF, lead and PCBs are identified and removed under our own Class A and B licences before the main works start, so there is no second contractor, no second mobilisation and no stopped programme.

What is the difference between Demolition Works and Technical Demolition?

Demolition works is taking a whole structure down where there is room to do it. Technical demolition is what you need when something has to survive: an adjoining building, a trading floor, heritage fabric, or access that rules out plant. Many jobs are both, and the same crews deliver both.
